Hi all -
We met two caterers this weekend, and we like them both! Max (The Wooden Sppon) and Dan (Gefffert's) provide very different types of food, but both are high quality chefs, and really nice guys. Which is why it's so hard to decide.....
1st stop - The Wooden Spoon -
Todd and I settle in for a cup of Reuben Soup, which we both loved, and some fair-trade coffee for me. Max, the owner came over to talk to us about catering. He handed us his menu but said, "This is just a starting point." He offers anything from ethnic foods thanks to his Lithuanian-Israeli family, to classic French cooking thanks to his top training. Max has worked as a chef in swanky locales, but moved to Reedsburg to enjoy the small-town life. We always have a great time at his place.
The Wooden Spoon
Likely menu from Wooden Spoon:
Sandwiches - honey dijon chicken, marinated yellow tuna, italian sausage with pepper & onions, grilled veggies & feta
Sides - Thai pasta salad, Italian green bean salad, garlic roasted potatoes
Next stop - Geffert's -
We pulled in at the sign that said "Geffert Herefords and Red Angus." Turns out Dan runs the catering from his house, across the street from his brother's farm. So we pulled over and the barn dog followed us. Dan took us into his kitchen and showed us his menu. We both noticed the Hickory Barbecued Whole Pig option, so Dan showed us his grill ovens. They smelled so good! We enjoyed talking with him too, and Todd even bought a bottle of Gef's special blend seasoning right there for $3.
Geffert's
Likely menu from Geffert's:
Main - Hickory Barbecued Whole Pig -or Chicken, Brats, or Turkey
Sides - German Potato Salad, Green Bean Casserole, Cheese Tray, Fruit Tray
So - please help us decide by clicking on the Poll to the right. Do you like the idea of the pig roast? Would you rather have some international cuisine? We have been told that both caterers use local ingredients, and we'd be happy to give our business to either. We just want to know your preference....

Thanks - and we can't wait to see you -
